What we connect to
Two ways in: the app inside your Shopify admin, or connections you switch on yourself. Here is what each one does, in plain words.
One is required. The rest are yours to decide on.
Shopify
Your range in, and approved prices back out.
What the app reads your range with, and writes an approved price back with. The permissions below are the whole list of what it may do.

Slack
OptionalThe same news in a channel instead of your inbox.
Paste a Slack address into your settings and the morning's news lands in the channel. You pick what is worth a notification.
Your own AI account
Optional, your keyHelps pair your products with theirs.
If you want a language model to help pair products, you add your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini. We try it straight away and switch it on only once it has answered. Every call is on your own bill, and your key is stored encrypted.
CSV file
Any timePairings in and out, when you have a lot at once.
Pairings can be read in and out as CSV. Useful when you have a lot at once, or when somebody else on the team should go through them in their own time.
Shopify
One click in your admin. After that the connection looks after itself.
You install the app
You find pricecheckr in your Shopify admin and press install. Nothing to download, no key to paste in.
You see what we ask for
Shopify shows a box with exactly what the app wants access to before anything happens. Three things, and they are listed below with what each one is used for.

Read your products
ReadsWhat you sell and what you charge. Without it we do not know which prices to watch.

ChangesUsed only once you have approved a proposal, or inside your own limits in live mode. In shadow mode it is never used.
write_productsRead your discounts
ReadsSo a product that is already reduced is not quietly re-priced. You can tell us to always ask first.
read_discountsYour whole range comes in
Products, variants, article numbers and prices are fetched once. After that Shopify tells us when you change something, so the list never has time to go stale.
You pair the products
We put your most likely matches at the top for each competitor. You click your way through. Nothing is paired for you.

Your products with no competitor page, and things they have started selling that you have not matched.

Once you have paired everything this says instead: every product is paired with every shop you watch.
The price goes back the same way
When you approve a proposal the app writes the price into Shopify for you. In shadow mode it never writes anything at all.

We do not publish an API of our own yet. If you need one, get in touch and tell us what you would call — that decides what we build first.
